About The Breed
Appearance
The Affenpinscher is typically 6.5 to 13.2 pounds and is 9 to 12 inches at the withers. They have harsh rough coat when not groomed and becomes soft and fluffy. The most unique feature is their monkey-like expression from which they get their name. Over the head and shoulders its coat is shaggier forming a mane. Each club has their own lists of acceptable colours, with black being the preference.
Temperament
While Affenpinschers have an appearance that is often associate with terriers, they are different from terriers, and often get along with other dogs and pets. They are active, adventurous, curious, and stubborn, but they are also fun-loving and playful. The Affenpinscher is confident, lively, affectionate towards family members, but can also very protective of them. This loyal little dog enjoys being with and entertaining its family. As with any breed consistent, firm training is essential, although the training should be varied because they can easily become bored. The Affenpinscher is best suited for a family who likes a show and has a sense of humor.
